How ForHousingEmpowered 3,500 tenantsto save £50k

Project at a glance
Executive Summary
ForHousing, with 17,000 properties in the North West, needed a fast and simple way to help tenants save money during the cost of living crisis. Partnering with Housing Perks, they launched a self service savings app in under a week.
The Challenge
ForHousing serves tenants across the North West, many of whom were struggling with higher food and energy costs.
With inflation impacting everyday essentials, tenants needed an easy way to save money without the delays and complexity of traditional support schemes.
ForHousing sought a scalable solution that could quickly reach a large proportion of tenants while keeping administration to an absolute minimum.
The Solution
ForHousing worked with Housing Perks to roll out a secure, easy to use savings app.
The app offers tenants discounts at well known retailers including Sainsbury's, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Primark and Currys, among many others.
The programme went live within a week thanks to Housing Perks' ready to launch system. Promotion was driven through newsletters and the ForHousing website.
Housing Perks has been a great help, helping me save money over time, especially when I purchased necessities like a mattress from Argos. I'm so happy that I have it.

Tenants save on essentials and contribute savings to rent arrears
All with zero extra admin for the social landlord or development time needed. The Housing Perks team remain on hand to support.
The Impact
High engagement with measurable savings.
Across the lifetime of the programme, ForHousing has delivered sustained engagement, measurable tenant savings and meaningful financial support with zero additional administration.
A total of 3,500 tenants have signed up and purchased 18,000 vouchers with a combined value of £1m. This activity has resulted in £50,000 in savings for tenants, helping households keep more money in their pockets while buying everyday essentials.
Alongside the direct savings tenants make when they shop, ForHousing has made significant savings by issuing vouchers through Housing Perks. Those savings are credited to tenants' rent accounts, helping reduce arrears and support financial stability.
The high uptake demonstrates both the need for and the value of a simple, low effort solution that delivers meaningful results without adding administrative burden.
I really enjoy using the app; purchasing vouchers is very simple. It helps me save a little money while making the same purchases as usual.
